When Witchcraft was forced underground in the period of the Witchcraft Acts one of the areas where it survived was in the kitchen. Traditional foods were and are a key element of Cochranian Wiccan practice. Additionally many of the ritual tools are taken from the kitchen. This form of witchcraft is termed ‘low magic’.
One of the best introductions to the ideas of Kitchen Magic is Danaan Elderhills “The Magic Book of Cookery”. This provides a basic idea of some of the approaches in kitchen magic.
